Plus just like any volunteer organization they respond to criticism first, thats why we have 10000 classes so every tom **** and harry with a HoChiMin XYZ turbo can have a class where he can win a trophy. Problem with that is you cant administer it. Cars get miss classed because nobody is running them for whatever reason, then you come along might like to run that but realize its hopeless then go buy the car du jour (if you have money) or drive around at the back of the pack because no one has complained enough to get the SEB to revisit the class.
NASA time trial rules are better, you got 7 classes for street based cars (i think its 7 havent re read them in a couple years) You start with your car pre classed in one of the seven based on its stock performance then you bump up classes based on upgrades you make. Simple if more difficult to enforce and track at the local event level.
But as I know personally no rule set is EVER perfect or satisfies everybody.

Very true.

One thing that would make a huge improvement in classing is for the SEB to review every class at the end of each year. For some reason the people I've said that to on SCCA forums think it's way too much work...lol. I stopped going over there as many of them have hissy fits when trying to suggest improvements. Let alone many have what I call amature racers ego.
All it would take is simply looking over the cars and seeing the obvious. Like the Acura RSX which was in CSP for several years before they moved it.
I suspect they recieve compensation for classing certain cars favorably. Mostly newer cars of course.
They also try to class like cars together. When in reality the overall speed of a car is what matters.
I really wish NASA was up here.
I don't go to our local autocrosses because I want to support the SCCA.
