Is WMC going to recognize the SMF class?
I just looked over the 2010 rules, and saw that there is indeed the new Street Modified Front Wheel drive class. Will this class be used by WMC?

i'll let jaymzz respond officially, but being that rick ruth calculated a PAX number for SMF, i don't see any barriers to recognition.

SM = 0.877
SMF = 0.870
on a 60-second course, an SMF car would be about 1/2 second slower than an SM car, in theory. obviously, this assumes a top-built SM car against a top-built SMF car. the latter historically has been an EG civic hatch with a B18C5 swap putting down 200+ WHP, dialed in DA suspension, and 275/35R15 A6's mounted on 15x10 CCW's in the front (225/45R15 A6's on 15x8 in the rear), among many other things. i know these things because i almost bought it

Hmmm, so since they are acknowledging that FWD cars are slower, are they going to reclass all FWD cars now?
Wait....let me guess, FWD cars are ONLY slower than RWD or Mids in SM????
Yet again my dislike grows. ...........

I think it depends on the class, ST is the domain of the civic from what I see of the national results, so FWD being an inherent disadvantage is not true in all cases

I think the thinking is that SM is now full of 400+ HP cars either RWD with 315+ tires or AWD cars with 285's that can put the power down. That, and enough people complained

The latter for sure.
I don't know what to think of the SCCA anymore. I've never liked how they do things. At this point they very well could come up with the perfect system and I'd still hate it.
